For the town she loved. For the generations still to come.
Sometimes love is found in the stories we tell, even when the words don't always come back. ❤️
This trout print was inspired by my son's growing love of fishing and the special relationship he shares with his Yaya — my mom.
My son has discovered the excitement of fishing. The anticipation of a bite, the thrill of reeling one in, and, of course, the stories about just how BIG that fish really was. 🎣
While my mom hasn't been able to experience his love of fishing firsthand, he's still been able to share those adventures with her in his own way.
We visit her every week, and he tells his Yaya all about the big fish he's catching, the adventures he's having, and the things that make him happy.
And every once in a while, something beautiful happens.
She lifts her head. She smiles.
It's a small moment, one that might be easy to overlook if you didn't understand what dementia can take away. But to me, those little smiles mean everything.
I don't know how much of his fishing stories she understands or remembers. But I do know that he keeps showing up, keeps sharing his excitement, and keeps including his Yaya in his world.
And sometimes, we get a little smile in return. ❤️
I created this trout as a tribute to those weekly visits, the stories that keep generations connected, and the love that continues to find its way through, even when so much else has changed.
Because sometimes, the biggest catch isn't the fish. It's the little moments we get to hold on to. 🎣❤️
About the Print
Part of The Loon Project's limited-edition Adirondack Wildlife Collection, this original linocut design is individually hand-carved, inked, and hand-pulled.
Because each print is created by hand, no two will ever be exactly alike. Slight variations in ink coverage, texture, and impression are natural parts of the traditional printmaking process. These beautiful imperfections make each piece truly unique.
Only 50 prints of this design will be created. Once they're gone, this edition will not be reproduced.
