The anticipation of a bite, the thrill of reeling one in, and, of course, the stories about just how BIG that fish really was. 🎣\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eWhile my mom hasn't been able to experience his love of fishing firsthand, he's still been able to share those adventures with her in his own way.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eWe visit her every week, and he tells his Yaya all about the big fish he's catching, the adventures he's having, and the things that make him happy.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eAnd every once in a while, something beautiful happens.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e\u003cspan\u003eShe lifts her head. She smiles.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eIt's a small moment, one that might be easy to overlook if you didn't understand what dementia can take away. But to me, those little smiles mean everything.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eI don't know how much of his fishing stories she understands or remembers.
